Yoga Classes
In the modern world, yoga is often associated with physical practice of Asanas. In reality, the practice of yoga is beyond physical movement. The word Yoga is derived from the Sanskrit root ‘yuj’ meaning “to unite” or “to connect”. Thus, yoga is a holistic practice that involves balancing one’s mind, body, and spirit.
There is always something that yoga can offer to an individual irrespective of one’s age, gender, or health condition. Practicing yoga helps an individual in many ways than one. Recent mind-body research studies have demonstrated yoga as an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, hormonal imbalances, chronic pain, and diabetes, to name but a few. Beyond the physical benefits, yoga helps an individual connect with their inner true self.
We believe Yoga is a way of life, and we aim to help you develop a sustainable lifelong practice.
Yoga Classes are conducted by Rajalakshmi Roshan, Artistic Director of NataRaji Arts. A Biotechnologist by profession; a passionate Bharatanatyam Dancer, Vainika and yoga practitioner by passion. Rajalakshmi was introduced to yoga at a very young age and has been practicing yoga since the age of 8. As a scientist, she understands the importance of breath control and alignment in each asana, its effects on the nervous system leading to a healthy mind, body, and soul. Rajalakshmi is certified in Ashtanga and Vinyasa yoga. Her classes include a mix of both styles to give her students the best of both worlds – building strength through Ashtanga while enhancing flexibility and agility through Vinyasa flow.
Each session will be 60 mins long and will include pranayama followed by movement through various asanas. The flow of the class will focus on breath control while moving through various asanas to help improve flexibility, strengthen different muscles, and activate the parasympathetic nervous system – reducing stress and anxiety of day-to-day life.
All ages and levels are welcome. No prior experience required.
